Filming update #2

We had to do some re-shoots of the conversation because we couldn't use the old footage as the audio was terrible. We also done some re-shoots of the man walking in the cafe because the lighting improved this time around. The second scene where the David is walking home was also completed. We found a nice and quiet residential street near the cafe we filmed in, it wasn't too busy or noisy so it worked for us. We stuck to the original script and storyboard but we added a few shots to make it a bit more interesting. For example, when the man walks in the cafe I filmed a quick shot of him walking in the mirror's reflexion just to make it more mysterious and creepy. We also added a shot of the man waiting for David to walk round the corner so that he can make his move. We took out the shot where we see the man staring into the cafe because we felt it was a bit unecesary. Another scene that was slightly changed was where David is walking home and the man attacks him, originally he was suposed to just wait outside his house.
We also shot a scene where David is walking home and receives a text from an anonymous person ( the man), but we decided against using it because it was unesesary and we couldn't get a good shot of the mobile phone without getting the camera's refection. We also decided to name the main character ' David' instead of Matt.

Filming update

Before the Christmas break, we filmed the first scene of our opening sequence. Unfortunately, we didn't have the time or equipment to film the second scene but most of it went smoothly except we had some audio difficulty and some lighting issues. The scene where David (the main character) and the man are having a conversation was disastrous because you couldn't hear them at all due to the costumers chatting in the background. The lighting in the cafe made people look like silhouettes which worked in some shots but didn't in other shots. I also wish I had used better shots and angles.
We are now planning on finishing filming and editing our opening sequence next week. Our first attempt on filming wasn't as successful as we hoped it would be, but we learned a lot from it. I'm now going to keep in mind all the different shot types and angles I could use. I'm also going to be aware of how good the lighting is in a particular shot before we start filming. I'm also going to use the mic closer to their face so that the audio can pick up the sound well and we can hear the conversation clearly. We're also going to be more organised and ask the owner of the cafe if she can close it for a few hours so that we can finish filming without any interruptions.
